Joyce Pleasant-Howard is a Masters level Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor Clinical Supervisor (LICDC-CS) certified by the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professional Board and Internationally Certified Clinical Supervisor (ICCS). Mrs. Pleasant-Howard recently worked at St. Vincent Charity Medical Center as a counselor II PRN. Joyce has over 36 years of professional experience working in the field of alcohol and other drugs prevention, and treatment. Mrs. Pleasant-Howard is the founder and Executive Director of Pleasant People Inc. (private practice), Incorporated since 1999 with her husband (Stedman Pleasant- deceased). Mrs. Pleasant-Howard provides consultation, education and counseling services for anyone who has a substance abuse problem or concerned family members or others who are concerned about a loved one's alcohol and other drug use, misuse, or addiction. Pleasant People Inc. has been a provider of workshops since 2004 and presently has Provider Status Approved Workshops by The Ohio Chemical Dependency Professional Board. Joyce Pleasant-Howard has worked with the criminal justice population, adolescent male/female, adult male/female where her clinical skills have been utilized. Mrs. Pleasant-Howard has worked at such agencies as: Harbor Lights Detox, Glenbeigh Hospital, Stella Maris Women's Inpatient Pilot Program, Grafton Prison's Therapeutic Community-LCADA, Oriana House, Salvation Army Harbor Lights Inpatient Men's Treatment Program, St. Vincent Charity Medical Center, Ohio Guidestone. Mrs. Pleasant-Howard was a Program Director for Woman & Babies Inpatient Treatment Program at L.C.A.D.A. (Lorain County Alcohol & Drug Abuse Services 1993 - 1998 (THE KEY), and developed programming for Transitional housing for both men and women. The Men's Prodical House - 2002, and My Sisters Keeper II - 2004. Some of Mrs. Pleasant's-Howard accomplishments and awards are: Phenomenal Women Award 2002, Lorain County Advocate Award 2012, A published author of her first book (Diary of a Patient, Her Illness, Family and Friends) 2005, and soon to be published (Diary of A Caregiver) , (Doin-Time-Too) and (Unequally Yoked and Know-It). Mrs. Pleasant-Howard is a member of Positive Plus Support Group (Founder Yvonne Pointer Triplett) since 1997, which consists of positive women who support each other in career and life challenges. Mrs. Pleasant-Howard believes that lack of information and education about the use of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs is a "tragedy for the family, community and world. Any family member, or concerned person who suffers from the effects of living with or exposure to someone who suffers from addiction needs counseling plus education as well."
